3 Epic Frozen Waterfalls to See around Toronto during Winter

The city of Hamilton in Ontario, Canada is known as the City of Waterfalls. There are over 100 waterfalls in this city. It is a great idea to explore the waterfalls in this waterfall capital of the world throughout the four seasons, especially during winter. The frozen or partially frozen waterfalls are just stunning.

I am visiting the following three waterfalls in late February. It is a perfect time to see waterfalls around Toronto because the weather is getting warmer, but the waterfalls remain half-frozen.

1. Webster’s Falls

Located at Spencer Gorge/Webster’s Falls Conservation Area in Hamilton, Ontario, Webster’s Falls is probably the most famous and popular waterfall in Hamilton. It is a 22-metre-high curtain waterfall. Even though currently it is not allowed to access the bottom of the falls, viewing the panoramas at the lookout is still amazing.

2. Tew Falls

Tew Falls is the other waterfall at Spencer Gorge/Webster’s Falls Conservation Area. Even though it is best known for being very close to Webster’s Falls and Dundas Peak, Tew Falls has its own charm. As a ribbon waterfall of 41 meters, it is the tallest fall in Hamilton and just a few meters shorter than Niagara Falls.

3. Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is actually a group of three waterfalls at the southern end of Niagara Gorge, crossing the border between Ontario, Canada and New York, United States. The largest one is Horseshoe Falls, also known as the Canadian Falls, which passes through the international boundary line between the two countries. On the other hand, the smaller American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls are located in the United States. All three falls can be seen in the city of Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada.

Well yes, Niagara Falls is not located in Hamilton, but it is just one hour away from Hamilton. So why not also visit the most iconic waterfalls in Canada and even around the world as well!

This is my first time visiting Niagara Falls. The popular Niagara Falls boat tour is closed during winter, and this gives me a reason to visit the Falls again in Summer!
